Description
Tiromel is a brand name for Liothyronine sodium, a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone T3 (triiodothyronine). It is used in the treatment of hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone. T3 is more biologically active than T4 (thyroxine), another thyroid hormone, and is sometimes prescribed when patients don’t respond well to T4-only medications like levothyroxine.
